Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit

The C-U Mass Transit District provides transportation for Champaign-Urbana community, including a Campus Transportation System for the University of Illinois. The MTD has operated a variety of equipment over the years. To see what we has been used and what is now being used go to the MTD's Equipment area on their website.

The District continues to grow. Today the MTD carries more than 10 million passengers per year. The Illinois Terminal was completed in 1999 and provides the MTD with an enclosed transfer station and an extra form of income through the leasing of office space. The future looks bright for the District. Remodeling and expansion has been done on the East University offices and maintenance facility. As the Champaign-Urbana and University of Illinois continue to grow, transportation needs continue to grow with them and the will be there to fill those needs.
